Bloomfield College Head Women’s Soccer Coach Rocco Constantino has announced that Shawna Reynolds, a 4-time All-BCSL National midfielder from St. Mary (Rutherford), has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue her athletic and academic career at the NCAA Division II College.
Reynolds was a key part in a rebuilding process that saw St. Mary become traditional State Tournament qualifiers under the direction of head coach Joe Soto. In her freshman year, Reynolds helped St. Mary to their first ever state tournament by registering 11 goals and 11 assists. From that point on, the Lyndhurst native was always a marked girl for Gaels opponents.
For the Deacons, Reynolds figures to play a major role as an outside midfielder for Bloomfield College opposite Jerrica Lavooy (Vernon, NJ/Vernon High School), who set the school record for assists in a season last year as a freshman. Reynolds joins Erin Mullins (Emerson, NJ/Emerson High School) and Christine Rutherford (North Arlington, NJ/North Arlington High School) as new additions to the Deacons’ roster.
In 2007, Reynolds led St. Mary to their first state tournament victory, a 3-1 win over Holy Family of Bayonne. Working mostly as an outside midfielder, Reynolds still managed to score 12 goals on the season and contributed by taking most of St. Mary’s set pieces.
Reynolds is the daughter of Gregg and Ellen Reynolds, of Lyndhurst, NJ. Also a strong student in the classroom, Reynolds is a member of the Math Honor Society at St. Mary High School and is also an active member in her school’s community as a member of the Key Club and the St. Josephs Club. Reynolds plans on enrolling as a student in Bloomfield College’s respected Nursing Program.
