Five Deacons softball players were named All-America Scholar Athletes by the NFCA after outstanding achievments in the classroom during the 2008-2009 season.  Current seniors Brianne Moore, Brittany DeVries and Sara Locke and 2009 graduates Fauna Ryerson and Mallorie Mathews all received the honor, which is part of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association "Girls Got Game" program.

Moore and Locke are both education majors and have been excellent students for their entire careers.  Locke, who is a 4-time CACC Scholar Athlete as well, had a 3.9 GPA last year and comes into her senior year with a 3.87 cumulative GPA.  Moore had a 3.5 GPA and has been an All-CACC and All-East Region award winner during her career.

DeVries, a utility player and Psychology major from Islip, New York had a 3.5 GPA last season.  As a sophomore, DeVries was on the CACC All-Academic team and was also an Academic All-American nominee.

Ryerson and Mathews, both gradutes this past May, were Graphic Design and Education majors, respectively.  Ryerson, who ended her career with the most wins of any BC pitcher in the Division II era, had a 3.8 GPA last season and was a member of the CACC All-Academic 6 times.  Mathews had the highest GPA on the team last year with a 4.0 and graduated with a degree in Education.
