The Bloomfield College fall softball season came to a close last weekend with the 3rd Annual BC Softball Fall Invitational.  The Deacons hosted Brookdale Community College, Burlington Community College and William Paterson Unievrsity.  BC's took on Burlington in their first game and William Paterson in game 2.

In their first game, the story of the game was the Deacon offense.  BC got off to a fast start, scoring 5 runs in the top of the first inning, highlighted by a grand slam by freshman Ashton Corley.  Corley later tripled and singled in her next two at bats, falling just a double shy of the cycle.

Burlington would eventually overtake the Deacons thanks to a big inning in the bottom of the third, but BC's Brittany DeVries held Burlington scoreless from that point on.  The Deacon offense then came alive, led by Amanda Bartels, who launched a long home run to left center field.  DeVries retired the side in the last inning to pick up the win in the circle.

In the tournament's final game against Wiliam Paterson, BC couldn't get the offense going against WPU's ace Michelle Graham.  BC managed singles from Bianka Cosme and DeVries over Graham's 4 innings.  William Paterson's defense sparkeld all game long as multiple hard hits were snared by WPU's fielders.

The BC softball team is now done for the fall.  They will return to action March 7th as they start their season once again in Florida.  BC's first game in the Northeast is a home contest scheduled for March 17th against Pace.
