WATERBURY, CONN: A second half goal by freshman forward
Stacey Jones wasn't enough to overcome an early offensive barrage from the Post University Lady Eagles Wednesday afternoon, as the Lady Deacons were denied their first conference win in a 3-1 road defeat.
Rachel Shivers put Post on the board early with an unassisted goal in the 11'th minute, putting Coach Constantino's squad in an early 1-0 hole. The lead ballooned to 2-0 in the 24'th minute, when Susan Curran fired a pass from Shivers past Lady Deacons keeper
Adriana Moreno to put the Lady Eagles ahead by a pair.
The score would remain at 2-0 until the 54'th minute, when Curran would notch her second goal of the match to put Post up 3-0. Jones' goal would come ten minutes later, but it would be all the Lady Deacons' offense would muster, unable to mount a comeback to knot the score in the final minutes.
The team returns to action on October 24, 2009 with a conference road match against Georgian Court University. The opening whistle is set for 1:00 PM.
