LODI, NJ: The women's volleyball team took a major step towards getting back in the CACC playoff race Thursday night with a 3-1 road victory over the conference rival Felician College Golden Falcons, pushing their record to 6-8 in CACC play.
Coach Valbrun's squad jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first set, taking the frame in decisive fashion with a 25-18 win. The Lady Deacons took a stranglehold on the match in the second set, controlling the pace of play en route to a 25-19 win and a commanding 2-0 lead in the match.
But the Falcons would not go down without a fight, as Felician bounced back to tak the third set 25-21. But the Lady Deacons' offensive attack was simply too much for the Falcons to overcome, as Bloomfield took the fourth set with a 25-21 set victory, propelling them to a 3-1 match victory and their sixth conference win of the season.
Senior
Ursula Pereira put forth another dominant performance going for 22 kills in the match, while
Tiffany Jackson and
Uerequenia Pereira each notched 10 kills apiece.
Suzy Zanette was outstanding filling in at the setter position, totaling 46 assists in the win.
The club returns to action Saturday, October 24 with a home tri-match against Philadelphia University and Southern Connecticut State University. The opening whistle for the start of the first match is set for 12:00 PM.
