BLOOMFIELD, NJ (October 24): The Bloomfield women's volleyball team suffered two tough losses Saturday afternoon, falling in five sets to the Philadelphia University Rams, and dropping a 3-0 decision to Southern Connecticut State in a home tri-match.
The Lady Deacons quickly took a two sets to none lead over the Rams in the opening match of the day, earning 25-22 and 31-29 victories. But the Rams stormed back, earning 25-20, 25-17, and 15-6 victories to stun Bloomfield and take the match 3-2.
In their second match of the day, Bloomfield ran into the SCSU Owls and quickly fell behind after the first set with a 25-22 loss. Unable to rebound, the Lady Deacons dropped the final two sets by scores of 25-11 and 25-15 to fall to 6-17 on the season.
Senior
Ursula Pereira totaled 43 kills on the day, including a season high 29 in the loss to Philly U. Junior
Uerequenia Pereira was the next top finisher, totaling 18 kills on the afternoon. Senior
Tiffany Jackson also had a solid day, totaling 11 kills in the loss to Philly U.
The team returns toa ction Tuesday, October 27 with a home match against conference rival Nyack College. The opening whistle is set for 7:30 PM.
