BLOOMFIELD, NJ: The women's volleyball team couldn't send their three seniors off with a victory in the final home match of their careers Thursday night, as Coach Valbrun's squad fell to the Post University Eagles by a 3-2 margin on Senior Night.
The Lady Deacons stormed out of the gates early, earning a 25-22 victory in the first set to grab a 1-0 advantage in the match. The Eagles would bounce back in the second set, earning an emphatic 25-14 victory to even the match at a set apiece.
Before the start of the third game, the Lady Deacons' three seniors took center stage for a presentation from their head coach, Anthony Valbrun.

Victoria Henao were honored for their outstanding achievements as members of the Bloomfield College volleyball program as friends and family looked on, providing the Lady Deacons with all the motivation they would need to orchestrate a victory in the third set.
It seemed as though Bloomfield would ride the emotional wave all the way to a match victory after a decisive 25-14 victory in set number three, but the Eagles would rebound to earn a hard-fought 25-20 victory in set number four, forcing a deciding fifth frame. The two clubs threw haymaker after haymaker throughout the deciding set, going point for point with neither side budging. But the Eagles finally previaled with four straight points to take the final set 16-14, earning a five-set match victory.
Ursula Pereira lead the offensive attack for Bloomfield with 15 kills on the night.
Tiffany Jackson also had an outstanding performance on Senior Night recording 7 kills, and
Victoria Henao was a force in front of the net totaling seven blocks.
The Lady Deacons return to the court Saturday, October 31 with a road match against USP. The opening whistle is set for noon.
