October 3, 2009: Bloomfield's men's cross country team won their second meet of the 2009 season Saturday afternoon, finishing with 29 points at the Goldey Beacom Invitational. The women's team also posted a solid showing at the event, finishing in fifth place with 98 points.
The men's event saw four Deacons finish in the top 15. Junior Nicholas Kipkosgei posted his best finish of the season, coming in second place with a time of 29:38. Senior William Walsh broke the tape not far behind, finishing in fifth place with a time of 30:50.
Elson Smajlaj finished three spots later with a time of 31:24, and sophomore
Kevin Quiroz finished 32 seconds later to come in 11'th place. Freshman
Moses Rotich posted his best finish of the season, coming in 12'th place with a time of 31:54.
Devang Patel and
Steven Bowman finished in 21'st and 22'nd place respectively, with times of 33:27 and 33:30.
On the women's side, sopomore Mercy Puma posted her best finish of the season, finishing in sixth place with a time of 22:46.
Vanessa Lamision was the next finisher for the Lady Deacons, coming in 17'th with a time of 24:26. Freshman
Bertina Beaubrun crossed the finish line next for Bloomfield in 25'th place with a time of 25:14, and senior
Jennifer Bedoya finished in 27'th place with a time of 25:24.
Shakiyrah Bishop's time of 26:04 was good for 34'th place, while
Deana Dedovitch crossed the finish line in 27:02, good for 42n'd place.
Robyn Burton finished with a time of 27:24, good for 45'th place.
The teams return to action in two weeks when they travel to the Cabrini Invitational on October 10. The women's race is set to begin at Noon, with the men's race beginning at 12:45 PM.
