PHILADELPHIA, PA (October 31, 2009): The women's volleyball team kept their playoff hopes alive Saturday afternoon, defeating the USP Devils in come-from-behind fashion 3-2.
The Lady Deacons dominated play in the first set, emphatically taking a 1-0 lead in the match with a 25-15 victory. But the Devils would rebound quickly, and put Coach Valbrun's squad squarely behind the eight ball with a pair of 25-23 set victories, giving them a 2-1 lead in the match and putting the Lady Deacons' playoff hopes on life support.
With their backs against the wall and needing a victory to stay alive in the race for the fourth seed in the CACC Tournament, the Lady Deacons stormed back, taking the fourth set 25-22, and willing their way to a hard-fought 16-14 victory in the fifth set to take the match 3-2.
