Boca Raton, FL- The Deacons lost the final game of their spring break trip in extra innings to Molloy College Saturday by a score of 4-2 in 14 innings. The loss drops the Deacons to 2-9 on the season.
Bloomfield added 1 run in the first when
Anderson Minyetty led off the game with a single, stole second and then was driven in on a single by
Edgardo Fernandez to put the Deacons up 1-0. BC would add a second run in the 4th when
Emilio Fernandez drove in a single with 2 outs and the bases loaded to lead 2-0.
Sean Stimpfel pitched 7 strong innings holding Molloy to 1 run, scattering 5 hits and striking out four. Molloy would tie the game 2-2 on a solo home run in the top of the 8th.
The game would remain scoreless until the top of the 14th when Molloy came through with a two out, two run single down the left field line to put Molloy up 4-2. The Deacons would load the bases in the bottom but would come up empty.
Kevin Lauranzon would go 2-5, and
James Seck and Edgardo Fernandez would both finish 2-6 on the day.
The Deacons return to action tomorrow when they host Dowling at 330 pm at Wright's Field in Bloomfield.
