Bloomfield, NJ- The baseball team defeated Felician College this afternoon in an exciting 6-5 victory at Wright's field. The Deacons are now 3-3 in the CACC and 6-15 overall. Felician falls to 3-3 in conference play and 12-12 on the season.
Felician opened up the scoring in the top of the first on a two run homer off the bat of Dave Schoer. The Deacons would respond in the bottom of the inning. sending 10 batters to the inning putting up 4 runs on 4 hits.
Alberto Ruiz and
Alex Sepulveda both had rbi singles and
Jonattan Fernandez brought in a run when he was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to put the Deacons up 4-2.
The Golden Falcons would come back to tie the game in the 4th with a two out two run home run off the bat of Alex Del Valle. Felician would add another run in the top of the 5th to lead 5-4. The Deacons would regain the lead in the bottom of the 6th when
Anderson Minyetty hit a 1-out 2 run homer to put the Deacons in front 6-5.
Felician would load the bases with 0 outs in the 8th on several defensive miscues, but Jon Walsh would strike out 2 Felician hitters to end the threat. Walsh retired the Golden Falcons 1-2-3 in the ninth to nail down his second save of the season.
Sean Stimpfel picks up his first win of the season, pitching 7 strong innings fanning 8 Felician batters, walking three, and scattering 5 runs on 5 hits. Alex Sepulveda finished the day 2-3 with an rbi.
The Deacons return to action this Friday when they host USP for a CACC game beginning at 3pm.
