Boca Raton, FL- The Bloomfield Baseball team split a pair of games with the College of St. Rose this afternoon at Lynn University. The Deacons lost the first game 8-4, and rebounded to win game 2 by a score of 2-1. BC is now 2-3 on the season, and the split moves St. Rose to 2-4 overall.
St. Rose jumped put up a run in the top of the second inning, but the Deacons responded by adding three in the bottom half to lead 3-1. With RBI singles coming from
Emilio Fernandez and
Alex Sepulveda. BC would take a 4-1 lead in the bottom of the third on a
Kevin Lauranzon single.
The Golden Knights added 1 run in the 4th, 5th, and 6th inning to knot the game at 4-4. St. Rose would put up a 4-spot in the top of the 7th to take an 8-4 lead before retiring the Deacons 1,2,3 in the 7th to hold on for the win.
Steve Godowski pitched 5.0 innings allowing 2 earned runs, walking 5 and striking out 2.
The Deacons got ahead 1-0 in the second when they capitalized on a costly St. Rose error. The Deacons added their second run of the game in the 4th inning when
James Seck came through with a 2-out rbi single to push the Deacons lead to 2-0. St. Rose would threaten in the sixth, but would only add one run largely due James Seck throwing out a base stealer in a key first and third situation.
Matthew Snyder would retire St. Rose 1,2,3 in the 7th, finishing the complete game.
Snyder surrendered 1 earned run in 7 innings, striking out 3 and walking none in his second win of the season. James Seck went 2-3 with an rbi.
Bloomfield returns to action tomorrow when they take on Concordia College at 11 am.
