Baseball Falls on Senior Day
Bloomfield, NJ- The Deacons lost their series opener to Philadelphia University tonight by a score of 12-4 at Wright's Field in Bloomfield. Before the game, seniors James Seck, Kevin Lauranzon, and Ricky Maldonado were honored. Philadelphia improves to 13-12 in CACC play and 16-26 overall. The Deacons overall record moves to 16-22 and are now 13-10 in conference play.
The Rams opened up the scoring in the top of the first taking advantage of a BC error and adding a 2-spot to gain an early lead. BC cut into the lead in the bottom half of the inning when Ricky Maldonado scored Anderson Minyetty on an rbi single.
Philadelphia would add five runs in the 4th, 3 in the 6th and 2 more in the 8th to lead 12-1. The Deacons would string a few hits togethor in the ninth to cut the score to 12-4. Ricky Maldonado, Kevin Lauranzon, and Alberto Ruiz all had rbi's in the ninth.
Ricky Maldonado finished the night 3 for 4 with 2 rbi's and Kevin Lauranzon went 2 for 4 with an rbi. Brad Smith takes the loss, going 5 2/3 allowing 6 earned runs and fanning 6.
The Deacons travel to Philadelphia University for a double-header beginning at 1pm.
