The Bloomfield College Softball Record Book has been compiled using statistics going back to 2002, which was BC's first year as an NCAA Division II college. Prior to 2002, the Bloomfield College Deacons competed as a very successful softball program as an NAIA school. The data was accumulated through NCAA and CACC databases.
The success the BC softball program has enjoyed the past few seasons is reflected in the record book as leaders in 9 of the categories have come from the past 3 seasons. With the data gathered, it was possible to compile accurate individual season records in 11 batting categories and 4 pitching categories. The statistical data was too sparse to compile career records to this point.
Many current BC Deacons appear in the top 10 for each individual category.
Brianne Moore recorded the most wins for any BC pitcher last season with 14. She also recorded the 3rd best ERA and has registered 3 of the top 5 strikeout totals. Also on of BC's top hitters, Moore registered top 10 performances in batting average, slugging percentage, and triples.
Despite playing just one season,
Kira Wagarappears in the top 10 in 5 categories (hits, runs, RBI, batting average and stolen bases).
Junior
Bianka Cosme has recorded 2 top 10 seasons in stolen bases and placed in the top 10 in walks and runs.
Amanda Bartels registered the third highest slugging percentage as a freshman in 2008 and also appears in the top 10 in home runs.
Although conference records are too innacurate to compile a record for sacrifice bunts,
Brittany DeVries total of 26 in 2008 led the country for Division II. She appears in the record books in the top 10 in runs and stolen bases.
Always an extra base hit threat, senior
Nicole Cagnino shows up in the top 10 for doubles and triples.
Despite starting just half of BC's games as a freshman,
Daliana Perez totaled 11 stolen bases, which was good for the 6th highest total since 2002.
Among the more impressive records is Courtney Thornton's total of 35 stolen bases in 2002, which is more than twice the total of 2nd place. Of the 20 pitching performances noted in the record book, recently graduated senior Fauna Ryerson appears 9 times. Another 2009 senior, Vickie Berardi, tops the most categories with 4. She holds BC records in hits, walks, runs and doubles.
