Former Deacon star Dabney named to NJHoops.com Small College All-Decade Team
BLOOMFIELD, NJ: Former BC men's basketball star Andre Dabney has been named to NJHoops.com's Small College All-Decade team, in results released January 11. He was one of five Division II and Division III players in New Jersey selected for the honor.
Over his four years at Bloomfield, Andre set the standard for excellence in the men’s basketball program, earning first team All-CACC and first team All-Met honors in each of his four years as a Deacon. The premier player in program history, Dabney currently ranks first on the all-time list for total points (2,350) assists (570) and steals (294).
The 2004-2005 CACC Player of the Year and 2005-2006 All-Met Player of the Year, the guard was twice selected as CACC All-Tournament MVP and received Honorable Mention All-American honors in 04/05, 05/06, and 06/07, as well as a Preseason All-American nod before his senior season.
"This is a great honor for Andre, and he certainly deserves it," Bloomfield head coach Gerald Holmes, who coached Dabney throughout his Deacons career, said. "He is a once in a lifetime kind of player. He is the kind of kid every coach dreams about having the opportunity to work with. Being named to an All-Decade team shows just how tremendous a career he had here at Bloomfield, so I'm glad his accomplishments were recognized by NJhoops.com in such a great way."
