Four Bloomfield College Women’s Soccer players were named to the CACC All-Academic Team for this past fall season.  Juniors Laura Nunnery, Sara Locke, Erika Len and Jerrica Lavooy all were honored for their accomplishments in the classroom.

Locke was one of just 18 players named to the team for the 3rd time while Len and Lavooy each received the honor for the second time.  Nunnery was a first time honoree in her first semester of eligibility for the award.  Each player has been named All-Academic by the CACC in every semester in which they have been eligible.  Only 3 of the 13 CACC women’s soccer teams had more girls honored.

“Needless to say we couldn’t be happier with the accomplishments of these four girls,” said Head Coach Rocco Constantino.  “I really feel like the academic culture has changed around this team and these girls are leaders.  Academic accomplishments like this will go a long way in helping these girls build resumes and help them achieve their future goals.”

Locke, who is also a two-time CACC All-Academic honoree in softball, is an education major who carries a cumulative GPA of 3.83.  While she has junior eligibility on the soccer field, she is a senior academically and earned a 3.85 GPA in the fall semester.  Despite recovering from offseason foot surgery, Locke played in 13 games for the Deacons last fall, starting 8.

A captain and center midfielder for the Deacons last season, Len was honored again for her academic accomplishments.  Also an education major, Len earned a 3.57 GPA in the Fall semester and holds a cumulative GPA of 3.67.  Len set a career high with 6 goals this season and was third on the team with 13 points and 39 shots.

In her first year as a Deacon, Nunnery made an impression on the field and in the classroom.  Her 3.75 GPA in Bloomfield’s respected Creative Arts program raised her overall GPA to 3.58.  Nunnery transferred into Bloomfield last January and has been a top student since arriving.  On the field, Nunnery registered 6 goals and 4 assists for 16 points.  Her two-goal performance in BC’s season finale gave the deacons a 3-1 win over conference foe Goldey-Beacom.

Lavooy has been a top student since arriving at Bloomfield College and enrolling in the Creative Arts program.  The recipient of a Presidential Academic Scholarship, Lavooy registered a GPA of 3.14 last semester and holds an cumulative 3.61 GPA.  A captain as an outside midfielder, Lavooy started 16 games last season and registered 3 assists.

In order to be named to the CACC All-Academic team, recipients must have participated in a CACC Championship sport in the fall. They must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, have been a student-athlete at their current school for at least two semesters, and achieve a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.50 or higher through the fall semester.  The complete list of honorees, separated by sport, is below.

In addition to the recognition Len, Lavooy, Locke and Nunnery received, BC had other notable performances in the classroom last semester.  Freshman Stacey Jones earned a 3.93 GPA in her first semester at BC while fellow freshman Mishaa Florea earned a 3.3.  Sophomore Tracey Nickels (3.33), junior  transfer Racquel Thompson (3.67) redshirt freshman Shawna Reynolds (3.26) all also earned GPAs over a 3.0 last semester.
