BLOOMFIELD, NJ - In one of their most complete offensive performances of the season, the men's basketball team took down the Nyack College Warriors in decisive fashion Thursday night, earning their sixth CACC victory in a 100-61 win in the Deacons' Den.
A well-oiled machine from the opening tip, Coach Holmes' squad shot an outstanding 50% from long range in the first half, and holding Nyack to just 35 % shooting with a stifling press defense. Their hot start helped them build a commanding 54-36 advantage through the game's first 20 minutes, and the group showed no signs of slowing down when play resumed in the second period.
Ten players registered a bucket for the Deacons over the course of 40 minutes, with six reaching at least eight points. The lead was too much to overcome for the Warriors, who shot just 27% from the floor in the second half and never recovered from the Deacons' offensive onslaught. Bloomfield outscored the Warriors by 21 in the second half, notching their 20'th straight home victory and sixth conference victory in emphatic fashion.
Chris Sampson was dominant in best performance of the season, going for game highs in points (21) and rebounds (17).
Gage Daye had another standout offensive evening, notching 20 points and swiping three steals, while
Wilson Pilarte finished 5-9 from long distance and totaled 17 points.
Ahmad Harris was his disruptive self in the win, dishing out six assists and swiping four steals to go with his six points.
The team returns to action Tuesday, January 26 with a road CACC contest against Post University. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00 PM.
