BLOOMFIELD, NJ - The women's basketball team fell to 9-3 in CACC play and 9-10 overall Sunday afternoon, as the Holy Family University Lady Tigers used a potent long-distance assault to hand the Lady Deacons their first home loss of the season in a 69-52 defeat.

Coach Wimberly's squad was able to keep pace in the early going, establishing a quick advantage and creating the buzz of a potential upset over the nationally-ranked Tigers.  But Holy Family was able to get it going from the perimeter, connecting on an astounding 66% of their three-point attempts in the first half, and orchestrating a late run to take a 35-24 advantage into the break.

The Lady Deacons couldn't solve the puzzle during the intermission, as the Tigers stormed out of the gates and widened the gap to 22 points through the first four minutes of the frame.  But Bloomfield was able to counter with a run of their own, cutting the back to 11 with ten minutes to play.

But the Tigers withstood the charge, and used a 50% shooting performance from the field to seal the win and hand the Lady Deacons their first home loss of the 09'-10' season.  Despite numerous attempts to mount a come back, BC was thwarted by the timely shooting and clutch free-throw shooting of Holy Family, who moved to 20-1 and 13-0 in CACC play with the win.

Dre'Shonda Williams was the top scorer for the Lady Deacons in the loss, posting ten points on 4-9 shooting.  Shakiyrah Bishop provided a spark off the bench, shooting 50% from beyond the arch for nine points.  Vanessa Lamison also made her presence felt, notching six points, six rebounds and three steals.

The team returns to the hardwood Tuesday, February 9 with a road CACC contest against Felician College.  Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 PM.
