EDINBORO, PA - Junior guard Gage Daye has been selected to the Daktronics All-America Second Team, in results released today.
A 6-2 junior guard from Newark, NJ, Gage ranks second in the country in scoring and paced the CACC with an average of 26.0 points per-game. Daye also handed out 4.6 assists and pulled down 6.3 rebounds per-game, and ranks seventh nationally in steals with 2.69 per-game. He ranked third in the CACC in assists and converts 2.07 three-pointers per-outing, which ranked fourth in the conference. His tremendous play earned him the 2009-2010 CACC Player of the Year award, marking the second-straight season a Bloomfield player earned the honor.
Daye's highlights included the most points by any player in the East Region this season with a 41-point outburst against Post on Feb. 17. He also notched the region's only triple-double of the campaign with 26 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists against Post on Jan. 26.
Daye led the Deacons to a share of the CACC North Division Regular-Season Championship, going 14-4 in conference play.
"This is an incredible honor for Gage, and we are extremely proud of him," head coach Gerald Holmes said. "All-Americans don't come around very often, so to have had the opportunity to coach a player like him has truly been a priviledge. He's done everything we've asked of him, and turned himself into one of the best players in the country. He's in the gym every morning shooting, whether he scored 30 points or three the night before. This award shows how much all his hard work has paid off, and he truly deserves it."
