Bloomfield College senior Sara  Locke was recently honored by Bloomfield College's "Portraits of Excellence" series.  The honor goes to students who have displayed tremendous leadership and academic accomplishments while they are enrolled at Bloomfield College.

Locke is the 4th BC student-athlete to be honored by the school, joining 2007 recipients Jurena Silveria (volleyball), John Moehlig (Baseball) and 2009 recipient Elias Brantley (Basketball).

"Sara is the perfect student athlete to represent Bloomfield College in any capacity," said Rocco Constantino, Locke's soccer and softball coach.  "She has all the qualities you could hope for in a student-athlete.  She's a hard worker, a great person and an excellent leader."

As a member of Bloomfield College's softball and women's soccer teams, Locke has a reputation as a hard worker and a fearless player.  She is a great teammate and is always willing to perform any role for the good of the team.

In the classroom, Locke has maintained a GPA over 3.8 during her career while majoring in Education and Psychology.  Locke has been a member of the CACC All-Academic Team, the BC Dean's List (with High Honors), and was named an Academic All-American in 2009.

The Portraits of Excellence recipients are selcted by the Center for Student Leadership and Engagement Department at Bloomfield College and have been awarded periodically since 2007.  Locke's poster will be framed and hung on the BC "Wall of Excellence" in the Deacon's Den along side other past recipients.

According to the CSLE website, the purpose of the "Portraits of Excellence" program is to profile students for their superior achievements, which may include, but are not limited to: academic, leadership, employment and internships, community service and volunteerism.

In addition, a critical goal of the Portraits of Excellence Program is to promote school spirit and pride in community living and learning
