PHILADELPHIA, PA - The men's tennis team fell to 0-3 on the season Saturday afternoon, as they dropped a 9-0 decision to the University of Scieces in Philadelphia in a road CACC contest.
In doubles play, Ricardo Martins and Christopher Lukose topped the pair of
Carlos Brufau and
Jamal Loper 8-0 in first doubles. In second doubles,
Andres DeCastro and
Daniel Petner were bested by William Fine and Kenneth Connolly by an 8-2 margin, and
Terry Gibbs and
Evan McCall fell to Roger Van Scyoc and Jason Chen 8-1.
In singles action, DeCastro fell to Ricardo Martins in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2 in first singles. Petner lost to Fine in second singles play, falling in straight sets 6-0, 6-1, and Lukose bested Loper in third singles 6-0, 6-0. Brufau wasn't able to net the Deacons their first victory of the day in fourth singles, falling to Van Scyoc 6-0, 6-0, and
Luis Perez fared no better in fifth singles, falling to Joshua Garcia 6-0, 6-0.
Devang Patel was topped by Paul Bedway in sixth singles 8-0.
The team returns to action Sunday, March 28 with a home match against CACC rival Concordia College. The opening match is set for Noon.
