ORANGEBURG, NY  - The women's basketball team saw their 2009-10 season end Tuesday night, as they fell to the Dominican College Lady Chargers 81-68 in the opening round of the CACC Tournament.

The nip-and-tuck battle was anyone's to win after the first 20 minutes of play, as the Chargers held a slim 42-39 advantage.  They had led by as many as 12 points in the opening frame, but the Lady Deacons were able to storm back over the final 10 minutes to narrow the gap to a one-possession game at intermission.

But in the second stanza, it was the Lady Chargers who were able to storm ahead, getting to the free-throw line early and often and capitalizing on 25 Bloomfield turnovers.  Dominican was lights-out from beyond the arch on the evening, finishing the contest 12-26 from three.  Coupled with a 15-27 shooting performance from the charity stripe, the Lady Deacons spent the final frame desperately trying to mount a playoff comeback.  It would prove to fall just short, as the Chargers advanced to the CACC semifinals at Caldwell College March 5.

Robyn Burton led all Lady Deacons scorers in the loss, notching 11 points in 23 minutes of action.  Milani Malik came off the bench to match Burton's point total, also dishing out a pair of assists before fouling out of the ballgame.  Jamila Garrett posted her second-straight solid performance in a starting role, notching nine points and pulling down six rebounds.
