Brianne Moore
The Bloomfield College softball team split their doubleheader again in action at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Disney softball tournament.  In game 1, BC used another dominant effort by Brianne Moore to top Susquehanna 6-0.  The Deaocns dropped a 6-2 decision in game 2.

Game 1 featured a pitcher's duel between Moore and Susquehanna's ace Cara Swerdlow, who was a graduate of Bloomfield High School.

After 4 scoreless innings, BC broke through with a 6 run 5th to take command over Susquehanna (5-1).

The big hits in the inning were a 2 run double by Moore and a 2 run homer by Amanda Bartels.  The inning started when Tiffany Muschio battled out a leadoff walk.  Ashton Corley and Bianka Cosme also scored runs in the inning.

Moore (2-0) notched the 30th win of her career by taking a no hitter into the 6th inning.  She finished allowing just 2 hits without walking a batter and striking out 6.  In 14 innings this year, she has allowed just 1 runner past second base.

In game 2, Susquehanna used a big inning of their own to spoil an otherwise dominant performance by freshman Ashleigh Williams.  After BC jumped out to a 2-0 first inning lead, Susquehanna rallied in the third to take a 6-2 lead.  With two outs and nobody on, Susquehanna strung together 5 hits as 6 straight batters reached base.

From that point on, Williams did not allow a hit for the remainder of the game.  Susquehanna used an outstanding defense to keep BC's offense at bay.

Bloomfield is off tomorrow, but returns to action Thursday for a 10:30 doubleheader against Bridgewater State College.  The Deacons will be without the services of star shortstop Kira Wagar for the remainder of the tournament after she suffered a dislocated shoulder on day 1.
