Deacons extend winning streak to two with win over Caldwell

CALDWELL, NJ - The men's tennis team improved to 4-7 on the season Wednesday afternoon, as they defeated the Caldwell College Cougars for the second day in a row by an 8-1 margin in a CACC road contest.

Daniel Petner and Andres DeCastro got the Deacons off to a fast start in first doubles, taking an 9-5 decision, while Jamal Loper and Jolston Wattley moved the Deacons' lead to 2-0 with an 8-6 victory in second doubles.  Evan McCall and Devang Patel gave BC a clean sweep of the doubles matches in third doubles, with an 8-1 victory.

In singles play, Petner took an 8-1 decision in first singles, while DeCastro moved the Deacons lead to 5-0 with an 8-2 victory in second singles.  Loper put the match out of reach for the Cougars in third singles, taking an 8-3 decision, while McCall couldn't help the Deacons complete a sweep of the match, falling 8-4 in fourth singles.  Michael Beeson got Bloomfield back on track with an 8-5 victory in fifth singles, and Terry Gibbs took the sixth singles matchup with an 8-6 victory.

The team returns to action Thursday, April 15 with a road match against Chestnut Hill College.  Start time is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
