Corley Named 1st Team All-CACC Softball
Bloomfield College freshman Ashton Corley (Escondido, CA/San Pasqual High School) was named 1st Team All-CACC after an outstanding rookie campaign for the Deacons. Corley was the only freshman to gain 1st Team honors after leading BC in many offensive categories.
Batting in the top of the order for a majority of the season, Corley led BC with 40 hits, 10 doubles and a .336 average. She was also 2nd on the team in runs with 17 and RBI with 13. Corley also had a .450 slugging percentage and stole 4 bases this year.
"I am happy the other coaches recognized how good of a season Ashton had and I am proud of her accomplishments this year," said Head Coach Rocco Constantino. "It's tough to get 1st Team All-CACC respect right away as a freshman when there are so many great players in the conference. She deserved it and I feel this is just the start of a great career."
Corley had many highlights and big hits thorughout the season, but none may have been bigger than a clutch home run against Holy Family. Facing fellow 1st Team All-CACC performer Jody Searfoss, Corley broke up a potential no-hitter in the bottom of the 6th inning with a 2 run home run. It was BC's first hit on the game and erased a 1-0 deficit, leading BC to a 2-1 win.
Corley became the first Bloomfield College outfielder to gain 1st Team All-CACC honors since Ashley Frange did it as a freshman in 2006.
