Lady Deacons picked 13'th in CACC preseason poll
NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The women's soccer team has been picked to finish 13'th in the annual CACC preseason poll, in results released August 16. The poll is voted on by the league's coaches, and will serve as a motivational tool for new head coach Katie Egan as she prepares the Lady Deacons for the 2010 season.
"Obviously, 13'th is not where we want to finish, and it's not where we expect to finish," Egan said. "We are working extremely hard this preseason, and we expect to prove a lot of people wrong this year. Our sights are set on a CACC Playoff berth, and we will do whatever it takes to get there."
The Lady Deacons return the majority of their team from 2009, including leading goal scorer
Stacey Jones, and talented seniors
Erika Len,
Jerrica Lavooy, and All-CACC defender
Shannon Martin. The squad opens their 2010 campaign September 2 with a non-conference road game against NYIT.
