Re: 2008-2009 Winter Season Sports Rosters/Schedules &
Student Athletes Attendance Policy
Attached please find the Sports Rosters and Schedules for the 2008-2009 Winter Season and the Student Athletes Attendance Policy. This information can be found on Bloomfield College’s Website, also.
Please note that for away games, the team may depart two to three hours before game time. For home games, the teams should be on the court one-hour before game time.
Students may be permitted to attend College-sponsored activities, given adequate notification, and their absence will not count towards the permitted number of absences. If the student misses your class, it is his/her responsibility to make up the missed work.
Thank you for working with us in this matter.
We look forward to seeing you at our sports events, especially the home games.
If we can be of further assistance, please advise us at extension 363.
cc: Ilona Anderson
Please read Attendance Policy below for “excused” absences from class by team players:
ATTENDANCE POLICY: Students in all classes are not allowed to exceed absences totaling two weeks of class meetings, effective the first day of class. When students exceed this allowance, you must file a grade of W with the Registrar, up until the last date allowed for withdrawal without permission, or WF thereafter. These grades must be put on the final grade sheet.
Class meetings missed because a student elects to change a course will be counted as an absence. (With instructor’s approval, a student may change to another section of the same course within the first two weeks of classes, in which case the attendance record travels with the student.)
A student participating in a College approved activity may be excused from class without its counting toward the two-week limit of absences. “Approved” means an activity approved by an officer of the College (President, Dean of Students, Dean of Faculty) and may include team sports, class lectures, field trips, etc. Student must notify their instructors in advance for an approved activity and arrange to make up the missed work.
You may equate “cumulative lateness” or early departure with absence. If you choose to do so, this information must be stated in the course syllabus. Two copies of the syllabus must be filled with your Division Chair and one copy with the Vice President for Academic Affairs/Dean of Faculty.
Note: The above-mentioned information can be found on page 10 of the Student Handbook.
